What is the format of Euro 24?
Euro 2024 will be made up of two stages: the initial group phase and the knockouts. From the 24 teams that will start the tournament, sixteen sides will advance to the knockout rounds. In order to progress, a side will need to win a match in the last sixteen, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
Unlike in other international tournaments, there is no third or fourth playoff.

Is the entire tournament being held in Germany?
Unlike Euro 2020, where UEFA held the tournament across multiple countries, tournament organisers have reverted back to type, and Euro 2024 will be held entirely in Germany.

In total 51, matches will be played in Euro 2024, with matches taking place in the following cities.
Berlin

Highlight: One of the world’s most famous stadiums, the Olympic Stadium in Berlin was the venue for the 2006 World Cup Final, which Italy won on penalties and will always be remembered for the Zinedine Zidane infamous head butt. The stadium will host six games, including the Euro 2024 Final.
Cologne
Attendance: 43,000
Euro 2024 games: 5
Highlight: The Cologne Stadium hosted the Europa League Final back in 2020. One of the smallest venues at this summer’s tournament, the stadium will host five games during the tournament. It will be one venue used for the Round of 16 and its most notable group game will be when England take on Slovenia on the 25th June.
Dortmund

Euro 2024 games: 6
Highlight: It could be argued that BVB Stadion in Dortmund is Germany’s most iconic football stadium. Home to the famed yellow wall, all six matches that are scheduled to take place at this famous old ground are bound to be special. The stadium will host one semi-final encounter and a match in the Round of 16. In the group phase Italy will take on Albania on the 16th June and France will play Poland on the 25th June.
Dusseldorf

Highlight: Home to Fortuna Dusseldorf, the Dusseldorf Arena will play host to three group games, one Round of 16 encounter and one quarter-final tie. The group games at the stadium are headlined by France vs Austria on the 17th June and Albania vs Spain on the 24th June.
Frankfurt

Highlight: Home of Eintracht Frankfurt, the Frankfurt Arena is a truly special arena which can generate a superb atmosphere. Surprisingly, this tremendous venue won’t host any games after the Round of 16 but will be the venue for four group games. The most notable match due to be held at the ground is when hosts Germany take on Bavarian rivals Switzerland.

Euro 2024 games: 4
Highlight: Although Schalke has fallen on hard times, its stadium, the Arena AufSchalke, is still one of the finest in Germany and once hosted the Champions League Final back in 2004. Just four matches will be held in the stadium, with the action concluding after the Round of 16. England will kick off its European campaign on the 14th June against Serbia and the stadium will also host the epic tussle between Spain and Italy on the 20th June.
Hamburg
Volksparkstadion Hamburg
Attendance: 49,000
Euro 2024 games: 5
Highlight: The Volksparkstadion Hamburg has been the home of Hamburg since 1953 but was upgraded before the World Cup that Germany hosted back in 2006. The stadium won’t host any Round of 16 matches, but is a chosen venue for one of the quarter-finals. The Czech Republic will play two group games at the stadium and the Netherlands and Poland will kick off their respective campaigns when they meet on the 16th June.
Leipzig

Highlight: The Leipzig Stadium is one of Germany’s newest stadiums having opened up in 2004. The home of FC Leipzig, it is a little surprising that only four matches will be held at the stadium. The headline group game is when Croatia take on Italy on the 24th June, there will be one Round of 16 game hosted at the venue.
Munich

Highlight: Otherwise known as the Allianz Arena, the Munich Football Arena is home to Bayern Munich and is widely regarded as one of the best football stadiums in the world. The stadium will have the honour of hosting the opening match between Germany and Scotland and will also host one of the semi-finals and one Round of 16 clash.

Highlight: Having opened in 1993, the Stuttgart Arena has been modernised on several occasions and is still regarded as one of Germany’s finest stadiums. In total, the stadium will host five matches and will welcome Germany for their second group game when they take on Hungary. The matches at the stadium will end at the quarter-final stage.
Do all of the participating teams play at just one venue?
No, teams will travel around Germany to play their respective group games. If you want to get hold of Euro 2024 tickets, all of the 24 teams know the various locations of their group games, but depending on where they finish in their groups, the Round of 16 clashes won’t be known until the group phase of the tournament has concluded.
There will be occasions where some teams play two games at the same location. Turkey, the Czech Republic and Hungary are just three of the teams that will play multiple games at the same venue.
If your team or a team you want to watch progresses through the tournament, pay close attention to where they will be scheduled to play their knockout matches. Tickets for these games are likely to be made available much nearer the dates of their respective knockout ties.

What is the best way to get hold of Euro 2024 tickets?
Similarly to most professional clubs, most of the top European nations like England and France have membership schemes, where those who have watched the most games will be given priority access to ballots and ticket allocations.
However, with the tournament now so close, those tickets have already been awarded to supporters, but don’t worry, there are still ways that you can get your hands on some.

In order to get hold of any resale tickets, you must have an official ticket account with UEFA. You can do this by registering on UEFA’s official website. If you aren’t registered, you won’t be able to get tickets.
